MediaPurge

With MediaPurge, Peter Lorenz aims to help you clean and manage your music collection. The main thing that MediaPurge can do is find and remove duplicates – by comparing their file information, by performing an audio comparison, or by locating file copies. On top of that, MediaPurge can sort files into subdirectories based on their tags or filenames, it can edit file names and tags, and it can even synchronize media stocks.

MediaPurge is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8 or 8.1, and Windows 10. According to the minimum system requirements, you’re going to need a single core 1GHz processor and at least 2GB of RAM to run MediaPurge. And according to the recommended requirements, you’re going to need a multicore 2GHz processor or better and 4GB of RAM or more.

MediaPurge has a wizard-like interface that lists all the steps you must go through. Step 1, select a function – a.k.a. choose what you want MediaPurge to do. Step 2, select a folder. Step 3, check out some settings that govern how MediaPurge will perform its job. Step 4, run the selected function. Step 5, check out the results.

If you have problems using MediaPurge, you could check out the accompanying User Manual. Unfortunately, it is only available in German. Perhaps this video guide will be of help. It is in English, but be warned that the level of English isn’t that great.
